“I want to work in HR because I like working with people”

Awwww, that’s cute 🤭

But if that’s your only rationale for pursuing a career in HR, you have a misguided view and maybe a career in customer services is more for you.

In HR, our motto certainly isn’t “the customer is always right” 😏

Don’t get me wrong, I love working in HR and I too love working with people, but it isn’t all sunflowers and rainbows and you’re mistaken if you think being a ‘people person’ qualifies you for the job.

You will quickly learn that the people we work with are often;

💥Confrontational
💥Having a bad day
💥Distressed
💥Making bad choices
💥Lying to you
💥Avoiding you
💥Refusing to do the right thing
💥Challenging and questioning you
💥Angry and frustrated
💥Burnt out or in a bad headspace

But the cool thing, as HR we get to make a difference and have a positive impact and influence on all of those people above.

That is one reason why you should want to get into HR, and why HR is a rewarding career choice 🥰
