Focus on what you can control

A lot of us in HR get stuck focusing on and worrying about things we cannot control

The harsh truth is, in our line of work we can’t control a lot of things

Especially when it comes to supporting managers through employee relations matters

We don’t work with predictable systems, data, or products where there is a button to press or a formula to enter to simply fix a problem

We deal with humans; unpredictable humans

All we can do is shift our focus, time and energy into what is within our control, try to influence others, and loosely predict and prepare for what is out of our hands

Don’t worry about what you cannot control

Take control of what depends on you
